Magnetic North vs. True North: What’s the Difference?

Magnetic North is the direction that a compass needle points to as it aligns with the Earths magnetic field. True North is the direction that points directly towards the geographic North Pole.

Because the Earths magnetic poles are constantly shifting, there is a difference between the two, known as magnetic declination. Our digital compass automatically adjusts for this if your device provides absolute orientation.
